The Experience

The tour starts inside the winery itself, where a local guide walks you through the technical details of how Quinta da Foz makes its wines—including the barefoot methods still used in production. You'll see the vinification process firsthand, the way the winery has operated for over 150 years, and the setup that lets a small family producer compete on dry reds and whites in the heart of Douro Valley.

From there you move into the aging cellars, where the top red and white wines spend their time in barrel, alongside the Port wines the winery produces. This is where you get a sense of scale: a traditional operation, not industrial. The tasting itself covers 5 different wines, paired with their own extra virgin olive oil and crackers, so you're tasting the winery's full range rather than a single focus.

At the end, you walk out into the old vineyard on the property—no rushing through a gift shop, just time to move through the vines themselves. Water is provided throughout. The whole experience runs about an hour, guided in English, and the minimum age is 18.
