Step-by-step itinerary

- Pick up from hotel in Paracas

- View desert and ocean landscapes
- Drive along ocean shore past Yumaque beach
- Arrive at Lagunillas fishing village
- Enjoy Peruvian food at local restaurant

The Experience
The tour starts with pickup from your hotel in Paracas or Pisco, then heads straight into the reserve. Your guide takes you first to the interpretation center, where photographs and displays lay out the reserve's ecology—the 74 plant species that survive in this arid landscape, the birds and marine life, and the geology that shaped it. This stop frames what you'll see next, so the desert and ocean make sense instead of just passing by.
From there the vehicle drives through the lifeless desert toward the Cathedral, a natural rock formation that once rose from the cliffs above the ocean. The 2007 earthquake brought it down, but the site itself remains—the views of the desert meeting the blue water are what people come for. You pass Yumaque beach along the shore, then arrive at Lagunillas, a small fishing village where you can stop for lunch at a local restaurant (your own cost). The whole route is paved, and the vehicle is wheelchair accessible.
The reserve itself is one of the richest ecosystems on the continent: 65% of it is sea, 35% land and islands, and the mix of tropical desert and cold ocean current creates conditions found almost nowhere else. Your guide speaks English, Spanish or Italian, and the private vehicle means the pace and stops are yours to shape. You return to your hotel when the tour ends.
