The experience
The drive to Morón takes roughly 50 minutes and passes through the Pisco Valley, where corn, cotton, grapes and paprika grow on local farms. You'll pass the San Clemente market and the district of Bernales before the landscape opens into desert. The contrast between the green valley and the dunes is the whole point of the route.
At the oasis, the dune walk is optional but worth doing: the guide takes 40–50 minutes to cross the surrounding ridges, pausing for views of the lagoon, the Pisco Valley stretching back toward the coast, and the distant Andes. Wild ducks, birds and lizards live in the dunes. If you skip the walk, you can head straight to the lagoon. Swimming is possible year-round. The water is refreshing but not warm. Sandboarding is included (boards are provided), and the gentle slopes near the oasis are good for beginners.
Few crowds and no large resort infrastructure mean the place stays quiet. Boat rides and paddleboarding can be arranged on site with local providers for an additional fee. The tour wraps in time to return to Paracas by early afternoon.
