The Experience

"That’s the best chicha morada in Miraflores," our guide Marco grinned, handing me a cup that was so purple it almost looked fake. I’d barely sipped when he waved us toward Love Park, where couples sat tangled together on mosaic benches. The Pacific wind was salty and sharp up there, and you could hear paragliders shouting overhead—honestly, I flinched when one swooped too close. Lima’s famous Green Coast stretched below us, all city blocks and wild sea foam. It was only the first hour of this Lima highlights tour and already my head was spinning (in a good way).

We’d started earlier in San Isidro, Marco pointing out how the old olive trees had seen more history than most museums. Marco told us about poets who used to haunt these streets at night, which made sense somehow. We stopped at Huaca Pucllana too (just outside), sunlight hitting those ancient bricks so hard it made them look gold for a second. If you’re doing a day trip from Cusco or just have a layover in Lima, this is the kind of tour that makes five hours feel like you’ve lived here longer. I still think about that view over Chorrillos Bay—felt like seeing all of Lima at once.
