The experience
The lodge sits three hours from Iquitos by speedboat up the Amazon River. From there, your days follow the rhythm of the jungle: early morning boat trips to spot dolphins and birds before breakfast, afternoon explorations of lakes and primary forest, and night walks searching for nocturnal animals like tarantulas, snakes and caimans. The guide knows where to find the rarer sightings. There are over 500 bird species in the area, more than ten monkey species, and the occasional jaguar footprint or anaconda.
On day five, you leave the lodge for a full night camping deep in the reserve, sleeping in tents and exploring by canoe, on foot and by fishing. The final morning brings a visit to a local village before the return speedboat to Iquitos. All meals are included throughout, and you stay in private ensuite rooms at the lodge for the first four nights.
The tour runs at the pace the jungle sets: early starts for wildlife activity, long midday breaks during heat, and evening excursions when nocturnal animals emerge. Boat time and walking trails make up most days, with swimming optional at certain stops. The camping night is the centerpiece: a full immersion in the reserve without the lodge's walls around you.
