The experience
The route starts at Taqah Beach for photos and views, then moves inland to the Bait Kofan Old House, a restored structure that anchors the history of the region. From there, the tour climbs into Wadi Darbat, a valley carved by seasonal water flow where waterfalls drop through lush greenery: the centerpiece of the day. The all-wheel drive vehicle handles the rough terrain that a standard car cannot reach, so you get to the water and the views without the hiking.
After Wadi Darbat, the route continues to Jabal Samhan, a mountain range that opens into panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. On the way, you stop at the Tayq sinkhole, a natural formation that drops into the earth, and pass through groves of baobab trees. The thick, ancient trunks are unlike anything most travelers have seen. The anti-gravity zoo is a brief stop where optical illusions make objects appear to defy gravity. Karak tea, the Omani national drink, arrives with coffee and dates partway through the day, and bottled water is on hand throughout.
The guide speaks either German or English depending on which option you book, and the small group size, never more than four passengers, means the pace stays flexible and the vehicle can stop whenever someone wants a photograph or a closer look. Pickup is included from your hotel in Mirbat or Salalah depending on the option you choose.

Is this one for you?Choose the German-speaking guide if that is your language. Choose English if you want the tour in English. The small group of up to four means you are not competing for the guide's attention or the vehicle's stops, which matters when the waterfalls and the mountain views are the reason you came.
