This activity takes you to an Aurora camp outside Tromsø where you spend an evening watching for the Northern Lights with a professional guide, visit a kennel of 200 huskies and puppies, and eat a traditional Norwegian dinner around an open fire. The experience

The evening starts with a 25-minute drive from central Tromsø to the Aurora camp, where the night sky is dark enough to see the Northern Lights if they appear. Your guide will explain what the Aurora Borealis is and what conditions make it visible, so you understand what you're watching for while you wait. The camp itself is built around a cozy Gamme-hut, a traditional Sami-style shelter, where dinner is prepared around an open fire.

Between arrival and dinner, you'll spend time in the dog yard with around 200 huskies and their puppies. A guided tour of the kennel covers how the dogs are bred, trained for sled racing, and cared for year-round. This is not a sledding experience. You're on foot, moving at your own pace through the yard and getting to know the animals up close. Thermal suits and boots keep you warm in the Arctic winter, and the gear is included.

Dinner is served around the fire: Bacalao, a traditional Norwegian-Portuguese fish dish made from regional ingredients, comes with bread and a piece of the camp's signature chocolate cake. A vegetarian meal is available if you arrange it when you book. While you eat, your guide watches the sky and will alert you to any Aurora activity, so you can step outside to watch and photograph the lights if they appear. After dinner, there's time to return to the dogs before the drive back to Tromsø.
