The experience

The day starts at your hotel with a private vehicle and one of the two hosts: Edgard or Sophia, both fluent in English and invested in how your day unfolds. Before you leave, the welcome kit is waiting: bottled water, local treats, mints and power bars for the volcano hike. Every entrance fee and boat ticket has been pre-paid if you booked All-Inclusive, so you never reach for your wallet. If you chose Flexible Legacy, you decide which stops to visit and handle those costs as you go. Either way, the vehicle is yours alone, GPS-monitored and air-conditioned.

Masaya Volcano comes first. You stand at the rim of one of the world's most accessible active volcanoes and peer into the smoking crater of Volcán Santiago. A hike to Mirador Fumarolas opens panoramic views across the volcanic landscape. From there, the drive climbs to Catarina, perched above the Apoyo Lagoon crater, where the view across the water and surrounding hills is the most expansive in Nicaragua. Time to browse artisan crafts or simply breathe the cool mountain air before heading to Granada's colonial streets. Your host guides you through centuries-old architecture, vibrant colors and hidden corners: stopping at the cacao factory to sample artisan chocolate made from Nicaraguan beans, or at Don Reyes's cigar workshop to watch a master hand-roll premium cigars and leave with one to take home.

The private boat tour through Las Isletas (365 islands, one for each day of the year) comes next. You glide past wildlife, millionaire hideaways and meet Michael, the island's most charismatic monkey resident. After the boat returns, you dock at El Puerto, a high-end restaurant owned and operated by Sophia's aunt. Your table is pre-locked in the best waterfront spot to maximize the lake breeze and views.
