The Experience

We stepped out onto Granada’s main plaza just as the city was waking up — vendors already calling out in soft Spanish, someone frying plantains nearby. Our guide, Rosario, waved us over to the cathedral and I remember the sun hitting those yellow walls so hard it almost hurt my eyes. She said if we wanted, we could climb up to the bells for a dollar. I hesitated (stairs aren’t really my thing before coffee), but honestly? That view of tiled rooftops and volcanoes in the distance still pops into my head sometimes.

After wandering through the craft market (I tried bargaining for a hammock — failed), we headed down toward Lake Cocibolca.
