The leaning Old Church looks different from every angle, and you'll shoot it from five of them.

A three-hour photography workshop in Delft's historical center where you walk five kilometers through canals and past landmarks like the Prinsenhof, Oostpoort, Oude and Nieuwe Kerk, learning composition and framing from a guide who speaks English, German or Dutch. Groups stay under eight people so you get personal attention at each stop. You bring any camera—phone included—and leave with a map of tips and recommended shooting spots.

3h–4h

Step-by-step itinerary

Photographic walk through Delft city center

  • Walk about five kilometers
  • Follow cozy canals
  • Pass highlights: Prinsenhof, Oostpoort
  • Visit Oude and Nieuwe Kerk
  • See leaning Old Church from different sites
  • Visit hidden pearls and behind closed doors
  • Stop for a break halfway
  • Take photos with tips and tricks
  • Experiment with shooting

The Experience

The walk starts in the city center and moves through Delft's canal network at a pace that lets you stop and shoot at each location instead of rushing past. You'll pass the well-known landmarks but also find the hidden spots—the angles and courtyards most visitors miss. The guide shares history and striking details about each place while you frame your shots, then gives you specific tips on composition, light and how to work with whatever camera you have. Halfway through the three hours there's a break to rest and review what you've captured so far.

Because the group caps at eight people, the guide can watch your work and adjust the suggestions to what you're trying to do—whether that's learning manual settings, finding the best light for a canal reflection, or just getting a sharp phone photo. You'll experiment with shooting at each stop, taking the time to try different angles instead of moving on. The leaning Old Church appears from different sites throughout the walk, so you'll see how the same subject changes depending on where you stand and what time of day it is.

You leave with a map marking the best spots and recommendations for returning on your own if you want to shoot again at different light. No entrance fees are required—you're photographing from the streets and bridges, not entering the buildings themselves.

Top questions

Can I join the photography workshop with just my phone camera?

Yes. The guide welcomes any camera—phone, compact, DSLR, mirrorless—and gives tips that work for all of them. You'll shoot alongside people with different gear and get suggestions tailored to what you're holding.

What's included in the three-hour walk?

The workshop includes the guide, the route through the city center, a break halfway through, and a map with tips and recommended shooting locations. Entrance fees to attractions are not included, and you're photographing from outside the buildings.

How far do we walk and what's the pace like?

You'll cover about five kilometers on a low speed through Delft's center, crossing small bridges and following the canals. The pace is slow enough to stop and shoot at each location instead of rushing; you're not doing a fitness walk.

What languages does the guide speak?

The guide leads the workshop in English, German or Dutch, depending on the group. You choose your language when you book.

Is there a minimum age for children to join?

Children are welcome from age six. They can bring a phone or camera and shoot alongside the group, though they need to be comfortable walking five kilometers at an easy pace.

Where does the walk start and how do I get there?

The workshop starts in Delft's city center. Pickup is included, so the guide will meet you at an agreed location; if you're staying in Delft or arriving by train, public transportation gets you to the meeting point easily.
