The experience

The helicopter leaves Kathmandu domestic airport and climbs toward the Himalayas. The 45-minute flight passes over dense forests, glaciers, lakes, rivers and traditional villages before reaching Everest Base Camp. A 10- to 15-minute refueling stop in Lukla breaks the flight in half. After that, the helicopter circles the peaks (Mount Everest towers at 8,848 meters), and lands at Everest View Hotel, where you have 45 minutes to an hour for breakfast before the return flight to Kathmandu.

Landing at Kalapatthar, the highest viewpoint for the summit, is available only for one or two passengers and costs extra. In shared flights with five or more passengers, the helicopter does not land there. A mountain guide travels with you, and the tour includes a comprehensive medical kit and first aid supplies. Hotel pickup and return transportation are included, so you do not arrange your own way to the airport.

Dress warmly: the tour operates in all weather, and temperatures at altitude are cold. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
