The experience
The day starts before dawn in Seville, where a luxury minivan collects you from your hotel or address and heads south through the Andalusian countryside toward Tarifa. The drive passes olive groves and small towns like Los Barrios and Algeciras, ending at the port where you board a ferry for the crossing to Tangier. On clear days, the hour-long voyage lets you see both Spain and Morocco from the deck.
Once the ferry docks, your private guide meets you at the port and takes you first to Cape Spartel, a headland where the Mediterranean and Atlantic converge. The lighthouse and sandy beaches frame the view, and you'll have time for breakfast with mint tea or coffee before heading to Achakar Beach for a camel ride along the coast. From there, the tour moves into the Medina, where you walk through La Petite Socco (a lively square ringed with cafes and shops), and visit the Kasbah Museum, housed in the former Sultan's Palace. The museum holds artifacts and artworks tracing Tangier's history, and its terrace overlooks the Strait of Gibraltar. You'll also pass the Tomb of Ibn Battuta, the 14th-century explorer, and Borj Naam, a Portuguese-era fortress with panoramic views of the city and sea.
Lunch happens in a local restaurant serving couscous, tajines and other Moroccan dishes. Afterward, you have free time to sit in a central café with mint tea and browse souvenir shops before the return ferry to Tarifa. The minivan then drives you back to Seville, arriving in the evening. Water, refreshments and snacks at Cape Spartel are included. The ferry tickets, guide, fuel and all ground transport are covered.
