The experience

The ferry crossing from Tarifa takes about an hour, and on clear days you can see both continents from the water. Once you arrive in Tangier, a local guide meets you at the port and takes you first to Cape Spartel, where the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean meet. There you'll have breakfast with mint tea or coffee and typical Moroccan refreshments while taking in the views from the iconic lighthouse. The beaches here are where you'll ride a camel along the coast at Achakar, a moment that sits at the intersection of Berber tradition and the natural landscape.

The day moves through Tangier's layered history: the Kasbah and its museum (housed in the former Sultan's Palace), La Petite Socco in the heart of the Medina with its cafes and shops, and the Central Market where locals and visitors browse produce, spices and handicrafts. You'll have free time in a central cafe to sip mint tea and look at souvenirs before lunch at a local restaurant, where the meal is included and built around couscous and tajines. The return ferry leaves in the late afternoon, giving you the seascape one more time before transportation takes you back to Gibraltar.

The tour runs 11 to 12 hours total. Transportation is a luxury minivan with fuel included, water bottles for all passengers, and a private guide who speaks English or Spanish. All areas are wheelchair accessible, and infants can travel in a pram or stroller or sit on an adult's lap. Specialized infant seats are available. The ferry tickets, local taxes, and all the meals and experiences named above are included in the price.
