The Experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel. Your guide arrives speaking English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian or one of several other languages, and the drive takes you into the Sahara toward Merzouga. Once at the camp, you settle into a private room with heating, a hot shower and a full bathroom — the kind of comfort that makes a desert night possible instead of a test. Water and tea are available throughout.

In the late afternoon, you mount a camel and ride out to watch the sun drop behind the dunes. The ride itself is the point: the animal's pace, the sand underfoot, the angle of the light. Afterward, back at camp, dinner is served. The evening is yours to rest or sit outside under the sky.

Morning brings another camel ride to catch the sunrise. After that, sandboarding — you strap a board to your feet and slide down the dune face, or take it slower if you prefer. The camp provides what you need. By midday, the experience is complete, and your guide takes you back to your hotel.
