One night between the sand dunes, from sunset walk to sunrise breakfast

A one-night desert camp experience in Merzouga where you ride camels into the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset, sleep in a private luxury tent with bathroom, eat Berber dinner and breakfast, and ride back at dawn. The camp sits in the middle of the dunes. Your luggage travels by jeep while you travel by camel, and you can return by camel or jeep at the end.

The experience

The camel ride starts at 5 p.m. from your hotel and takes about an hour to reach the luxury camp in the heart of the dunes. As you arrive, you walk up the sand to watch the sunset over Erg Chebbi and take photographs. The sky clears at night to show stars with unusual intensity. Dinner is Berber food cooked at the camp, served with live Sahara music and a campfire.

Your private tent has a real bathroom with shower and toilet inside, towels, and electricity to charge phones. Free WiFi runs at the camp. In the morning you walk the dunes again to watch the sunrise, then sit down to a Berber breakfast before the ride back. You choose whether to return by camel or by jeep for comfort, and the camp arranges both. Your luggage travels separately by jeep the whole time so you ride unencumbered.

A Berber guide speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and two other languages. The camp provides a desert scarf for each person, bottled water, tea and coffee during the trip, and a sandboard to use on the dunes when you arrive. Parking for your car is free at the hotel.
