Pickup happens at 10am from your Fez accommodation in an air-conditioned vehicle. The route itself is part of the day: you stop at viewpoints in the Rif mountains, pass the Royal family estate near Ain Lah, and cross the Achahad Dam before arriving at Volubilis. The Roman complex sits on high ground overlooking the valley, and you have time to walk the ruins at your own pace—the Arch of Caracalla, the Basilica, the Capitoline Temple—while the driver or a local guide (available as an add-on) explains what you are standing in front of.

After Volubilis, you drive to Moulay Idriss, the holiest Islamic town in Morocco. Non-Muslims cannot enter the mosque or the inner sanctum, but the town itself is built on a steep hillside in a labyrinth of narrow alleyways, and the panoramic view from outside shows the green-tiled pyramids of the Zaouia and the elongated square at its center. Lunch follows at a restaurant you select—local or more formal, depending on what you want. This is where the day pauses.

The afternoon is Meknes, the imperial capital under Moulay Ismail in the 17th century. You enter the medina through monumental gates—Bab Mansour, Bab Khemis, Berdaïne Bab—each one decorated in Spanish-Moorish style. The tour includes the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the founder of the Alaouite dynasty; Place el Hadim, the vast square; and the granaries and stables built by Moulay Ismail's soldiers. The Museum of Moroccan Art is also on the route. Dropoff back at your Fez hotel ends the day around 5pm.
