Step-by-step itinerary
Explore Habous and Andalusian music
- Visit Mahakma Pasha architecture
- Tour Habous district old medina
- Explore Dar Al Ala museum
- Attend Andalusian music concert (optional)
The experience
The tour starts in the Habbous district, where the Mahakma Pasha (a former Muslim court with splendid architecture) anchors the first stop. Built during the French protectorate, the Habbous quarter itself is the old medina of Casablanca, a neighborhood designed as a planned space rather than the organic sprawl of older medinas elsewhere. The guide walks you through its layout and history before moving to the museum.
Dar Al Ala Museum occupies a restored house and was created in 2011 by Moroccan Andalusian music enthusiasts. The collection centers on the history and culture of Andalusian music: the classical tradition that arrived in Morocco centuries ago and evolved into a distinct regional form. Most days the museum functions as a static collection. On Thursdays, it transforms into a concert venue where visitors can watch and sometimes participate in performances organized by the association that runs it. Whether you attend a concert depends on the day you book and the association's schedule that week.
Your guide speaks English, Spanish, French or Arabic and is included with the tour. Pickup is arranged as part of your booking. The whole experience runs three hours, and the site is wheelchair accessible with all surfaces level and accessible transportation options nearby.
