The experience

Ever wondered what the desert smells like at dusk? I didn’t, not really, until we left Marrakech behind and the city noise faded into this quiet, sandy nothingness. Our driver (Youssef, I think) kept pointing out little villages as we bumped along. The air changed. It got cooler, almost sweet with dust and something herbal I couldn’t place. When we finally reached the edge of the Agafay Desert, there were camels waiting.
