Two desert machines, one golden hour, a night of music and fire

A five- to six-hour quad bike and camel ride tour in Marrakech's Agafay Desert, timed to catch the sunset over the High Atlas Mountains, with pickup from your hotel, a traditional Berber dinner, and a live performance featuring fire dancers and Gnawa music. The tour pairs the adrenaline of a one-hour quad bike trek with the slower rhythm of a camel ride, then moves to a nomadic tent for a three-course feast and cultural show. Live guide in English, Spanish, French or Arabic; children welcome from age 4.

Step-by-step itinerary

Desert adventure and cultural evening

  • Quad bike trek in Agafay Desert
  • Camel ride at sunset
  • Stop for panoramic mountain views
  • Visit local cooperative for mint tea
  • Enjoy 3-course Moroccan dinner
  • Watch fire show and Gnawa music

The Experience

You spend the first hour on a quad bike cutting across the stony dunes of Agafay Desert, just outside Marrakech—close enough to avoid the long drive to the Sahara but far enough to feel genuinely remote. Two riders share each quad, so if you're traveling with someone, you're on the same machine; if you're solo, you pair with another guest. The terrain is rugged and open, and the guide navigates you through the landscape while pointing out the geography as you ride.

After the quad section, you switch to camel for the second half of the afternoon. This is where the pace drops completely—the camel ride follows the sunset as it moves toward the High Atlas Mountains, and the guide stops at a viewpoint where the desert plains meet the snow-capped peaks. This is the moment built for photos, and the guide shares the Berber history of the region while you're standing there. Before dark, you visit a local women's cooperative where you're welcomed with traditional Moroccan mint tea and learn how argan oil is made, tasting fresh bread dipped in it alongside Amlou (a paste made from argan, almonds and honey).

As night falls, you move into a traditional nomadic tent for a three-course Moroccan dinner—slow-cooked tagines and local specialties prepared by desert chefs. The evening doesn't end with food; a fire show, belly dancing, and live Gnawa music fill the tent under the open sky. Transport with air conditioning is included, as is pickup and drop-off from your hotel. The whole experience runs five to six hours from start to finish.

Is this one for you?The five- to six-hour window means you can fit this into a single afternoon and evening without losing the rest of your day in Marrakech—quad and camel both happen before dark, dinner and the show fill the night, and you're back at your hotel by late evening. If you want the desert and the cultural performance without an overnight trip, this timing holds it all.
