The Experience

The first thing I remember is the color — that late afternoon gold over the Timlalin Dunes, with the ocean just behind us. We’d left Agadir in a van that still smelled faintly of sea salt and sunscreen (someone must’ve come straight from the beach). Our guide, Youssef, kept pointing out things I would’ve missed: tiny banana stalls by the roadside, houses painted in every color you can think of. He stopped so we could try these bananas — smaller than what I’m used to, but somehow sweeter. It’s funny how something so simple sticks with you.

I didn’t expect to enjoy quad biking as much as I did. The engine rattled under me and sand kicked up everywhere — my shoes are probably still full of it. The air cooled off fast once the sun went down; someone handed me an extra jacket without even asking if I needed it.
