If you’re after more than just a surf lesson, this retreat brings together real Moroccan hospitality, daily yoga with a sea view, and small group vibes. You’ll eat well, sleep easy, and leave with new friends—and maybe even stand up on your board.
First thing I noticed stepping out onto the rooftop was the salty air—mixed with a hint of fresh mint from the tea brewing downstairs. Mornings here start slow. You’ll hear the distant call to prayer, then the clatter of boards as we load up for the day’s surf. Our coach, Youssef, always checks the tide charts before picking the best beach—sometimes it’s Banana Point, other days we head down to Devil’s Rock. The Atlantic’s chill wakes you up fast, but the wetsuits do their job. I still remember my first wave—awkward, a little shaky, but everyone cheered anyway.
After a couple hours in the water, we’d sprawl on the sand with our packed lunches—usually a veggie tagine or grilled fish sandwich, wrapped up tight so the sand doesn’t get in. Afternoons are for free surfing or just napping under a straw umbrella. Back at the camp, there’s always time for a hot shower before yoga. The studio faces the ocean, so you catch the sunset light as you stretch. Our instructor, Amina, keeps things relaxed—she’ll adjust your pose or crack a joke if you wobble. Dinner is a family-style affair: big bowls of couscous, roasted veggies, and sometimes a surprise dessert like orange slices dusted with cinnamon. Evenings wind down with tea on the terrace—sometimes quiet, sometimes full of stories from the day.
