Ziplining in Tulum: ATV, Cenote & Mayan Lunch
Race through jungle trails, soar over treetops, and swim with turtles after a Mayan lunch
Ziplining in Tulum combines four zipline runs through the jungle canopy, ATV riding, cenote swimming and a traditional Mayan lunch in a small group led by a bilingual local guide. Hotel pickup is included in Tulum zone; the day runs six hours and covers all equipment, safety briefing and water. Minimum age to drive an ATV is 18; children from age 4 can participate in other activities. Bring a towel, bathing suit, extra shirt, comfortable shoes and flip-flops.
The Experience
The day starts with a bilingual guide meeting you at your hotel in the Tulum zone, then heads into the Mayan forest where you'll drive your own ATV through jungle trails. You control the machine — not a passenger seat, not a guided route on rails. After the ride, you move to the zipline course: four separate runs strung through the canopy, each one a different angle on the forest below. The equipment and safety briefing are provided, and the guide stays with the group throughout.
Between the ziplines and the ATV, the cenote is where the pace shifts. You swim in a crystal-clear freshwater sinkhole, and the itinerary mentions turtles — the source says you'll witness them in their natural habitat, though the exact frequency isn't guaranteed. It's a full-day combo, so the activities stack: you're not choosing between them, you're doing all of them in sequence. A traditional Mayan lunch rounds out the afternoon, and bottled water is provided throughout.
The group stays small, which changes how the day feels compared to a standard tour bus. You're not waiting for thirty people to finish a zipline run or lining up for the cenote entrance. A bilingual guide means you get the story in English or Spanish depending on who's in your group that day. One practical note: the ATV requires a valid driver's license and you must be at least 18 to operate one; if you're younger or don't drive, you can still do the ziplines, cenote and lunch.
