Eleven zip-lines and a mule ride through the Sierra above Puerto Vallarta

You get suited up in full safety gear, ride a mule into the Sierra, then fly through eleven zip-lines up to 660 feet above the forest with ocean views. The fastest line hits 90 kilometers per hour; the last one ends in a river swim. Guides brief you on safety and wildlife, stay with you throughout, and the day wraps with pool access and complimentary tequila tasting before return to town.

Step-by-step itinerary

Zip lines and nature walk adventure

  • Receive safety briefing
  • Get harness, pulleys, helmet
  • Fly on 11 zip lines
  • Enjoy ocean and mountain views
  • Walk natural paths
  • Dive in river at last line

The Experience

You've just landed in Puerto Vallarta and your hotel is still checking you in. But the mountains are an hour away, and the guides are waiting. The canopy tour in the Sierra starts with a safety briefing — harness, helmet, pulleys, the whole setup — and then you're walking natural paths toward the first line. Eleven of them total, strung between the trees, and the ocean sits below the whole time you're flying.

The mule ride comes first, about fifteen minutes through the foothills, and then the zip-lining starts. You move from one platform to the next, walking the forest floor between lines, and the guides stay with you the whole way — they're trained, they're funny, they explain what you're seeing in the wildlife around you. The fastest line is called Tom and Jerry, and it's the one where you hit 80 to 90 kilometers per hour. You can race a friend if someone else is on the tour. Most people don't expect how quiet it is up there, just the sound of the pulley and the trees.

At the last line you dive into the river. It's cold and fast and real. After that you walk back to the park, where there's a restaurant, an infinity pool if you brought a bathing suit, and a free tequila tasting before you head down the mountain. The whole thing takes a few hours, and you're back in town before dinner, still buzzing from the speed and the height and the fact that you just did that.
