The experience

The tour starts with a drive along Mazatlan's malecon, the second-largest waterfront promenade in the world. From there, the pulmonia takes you through Olas Altas, a neighborhood known for its colonial-era buildings and street life. You'll pass through Plazuela Machado, a square ringed by colorful buildings and cafes where musicians often play, and then reach the cathedral in Old Mazatlan: a structure mixing Gothic and Moorish architecture that you can step out and explore.

The route then climbs to a hilltop that offers 360-degree views of the city, the coastline, and the sea. This is where most travelers stop to photograph the layout of Mazatlan spread below. The pulmonia, an open-sided vehicle with a roof, lets you see and feel the city as you move through it, not from behind glass.
