Step-by-step itinerary

The Experience

The tour starts at the traditional market founded in 1897, where vendors sell food, souvenirs and clothing. From there you move to Las Changueras, the seafood market where Mazatlan's reputation as the Shrimp Capital takes shape — the guide explains why this port built itself on shrimp, and you taste the catch. The malecon, one of the longest in the world, comes next, giving you the waterfront view before the tour heads to a fishing beach on the north end of the city where boats bring in the morning's fish and you eat another typical Mazatlan dish with the bay in front of you.

The second half of the day takes you to the Mazatlan Lighthouse, the tallest natural lighthouse in the world, and then to Plazuela Machado, the heart of the historic district. You'll see the city's most recognizable monument and walk an emblematic avenue that shows off the port's best views. All food and non-alcoholic drinks at every stop are included in the price; you're not stopping to order and pay separately at each place.

Is this one for you?Four hours is short enough to leave the rest of your day open, but long enough to move through five neighborhoods and eat at multiple stops without rushing; if you want a full-day immersion or a tour that works around a shellfish allergy, this one won't fit.
