The Experience
The tour starts with the Lighthouse—the tallest natural lighthouse in the Americas—and a quick stop at the Observatorio 1873, a restored historic lookout at the base of Cerro del Vigía where your guide fills in the building's role in the city's past. From there you drive to the cliff divers, where you'll watch performers leap into the crashing waves below, a tradition that has drawn crowds for decades. The guide explains what goes into the jumps and the history behind them.
Next comes the Historic Center, where you pass through colonial architecture and vibrant plazas from your seat in the vehicle while the guide points out landmarks and tells you about the city's history. You'll stop to photograph the Cathedral with its twin neo-Gothic towers, then cruise past the market and along the Malecón—one of the world's longest oceanfront boulevards—before heading into the Golden Zone, Mazatlán's main tourist district. The route is built to show you the city without requiring you to navigate it yourself.
In the Golden Zone you get a guided tequila tasting, then free time to shop for souvenirs, jewelry and duty-free goods. Depending on which option you book, you can add a beach club experience with access to beachfront facilities and pool areas, or stick with the standard beach break at a resort in the same area. Either way, the return to the cruise terminal is timed so you're back before your ship departs. Soft drinks and bottled water travel with you the whole way.
