Reef snorkeling plus a full beach club day, not one or the other

Snorkeling in Costa Maya combines a guided reef dive with a full day at a private beach club: you explore colorful corals and tropical fish in clear Caribbean water, then return to reserved lounge chairs, an open bar and lunch. The experience runs seven hours and suits all swimming levels; guides speak English and Spanish, and children from age one are welcome.

The Experience

The day starts with snorkeling gear and a professional guide who leads you into the water to explore the reefs. You'll see colorful corals, tropical fish and other marine life in an environment designed for both beginners and experienced snorkelers. The guide handles the safety briefing and stays with the group, so you focus on what's below the surface instead of managing logistics or worrying about conditions. The water is clear enough that the reef itself does most of the teaching.

Once you're back on shore, the beach club takes over. Reserved lounge chairs are waiting, showers and changing rooms are available, and the open bar runs the whole time you're there. Lunch is a selection of local dishes, not a single plate, so you eat what appeals to you. The seven-hour window gives you time to dry off, eat, rest in the chair and return to the water if you want another swim before the day ends.

A private guide is included, and the team speaks English and Spanish. Children from age one can come along — infants ride in a stroller or sit on an adult's lap, and kids under eighteen get the same beach club access and food as adults, just without the alcoholic drinks. The experience is built for all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health.

Top questions

What's the snorkeling like for someone who's never done it before?

The snorkeling in Costa Maya is designed for all experience levels, including beginners. A professional guide leads you through the reef, handles the safety briefing and stays with the group. The water is clear and shallow enough that you can see the corals and fish without needing advanced skills, and the guide's presence means you're not navigating on your own.

Do I need to bring my own snorkeling equipment?

No — snorkeling equipment is included in the package. The beach club provides everything you need, and the guide will make sure it fits properly before you enter the water.

Can I bring my kids, and what do they do while I'm snorkeling?

Children from age one are welcome. Infants can stay in a stroller or on an adult's lap, and older kids have full access to the beach club — lounge chairs, showers, food and non-alcoholic drinks — while you're in the water or snorkeling together as a family.

Is the open bar really unlimited, and does it include everything?

Yes, the open bar is unlimited and included in the package. Guests over eighteen can order alcoholic drinks; under eighteen, the selection is non-alcoholic beverages.
