The experience

The day starts with a short ride from Costa Maya Port to the beach club in the heart of Mahahual, or you can make your own way directly to the boardwalk. Once you arrive, your lounge chair and shade are waiting. There's no check-in line, no activity you have to join, no time slot you need to hit. You settle in, order from the full open bar (margaritas, tequila, Mexican beer, national and international drinks), and the afternoon unfolds on your terms.

When you're ready to eat, walk to the kitchen and choose from coconut shrimp, ceviche, quesadillas, nachos, burritos, cheeseburgers and vegetarian options, all prepared fresh. Eat steps from the water, then head straight back to your chair or into the Caribbean for a swim. Kayaks and snorkeling gear are available if conditions allow. Bottled water and soft drinks come with your day, and WiFi, showers and restrooms are on-site.

The five hours give you real time to do nothing, or to move between the water, your seat and the bar without watching the clock. If you booked with transportation, your driver meets you outside the port's main access (look for Gabriel or Ruth with a name board), and brings you back when you're ready. The walk from your ship to the meeting point takes about 15 minutes. If you chose self-arrival, you head straight to the club and leave whenever you want.
