Step-by-step itinerary

Catamaran cruise to northern islands

  • Travel to Grand Bay Public Beach
  • Board catamaran for cruise
  • Visit Coin de Mire island
  • Arrive at Île Plate island
  • Swim and snorkel at Île Plate
  • Relax on sugar-white sands
  • Enjoy barbecue lunch on board
  • Drink refreshments included
  • Return to hotel by transport

The Experience

The catamaran leaves Grand Bay Public Beach and heads north to Coin de Mire, where you swim and snorkel in clear water before the boat moves on to Île Plate Island. The beach there is the main stop — white sand, shallow enough to wade out, and the crew sets up a barbecue lunch on the shore. You can snorkel again in the afternoon or stay on the sand; the pace is yours to set. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are served throughout the day.

Hotel pickup happens one to two hours before the activity starts, depending on where you're staying, and the boat returns you the same way. The whole day runs seven hours from start to finish. A guide in your language — English, Italian or French — stays with the group and can point out what's in the water and answer questions about the islands, but this is not a lecture tour; most of the day is in the water or on the beach.

Snorkeling gear is not included, so bring your own or rent it separately before the day starts. A vegetarian lunch option is available if you request it when you book. The minimum group size is two people, and you need to bring your passport details (name, number, expiry and country) at the time of booking.

What’s included

  • Hotel pickup and drop-off from your Mauritius accommodation.
  • a full barbecue lunch on Île Plate Island beach.
  • alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks all day.
  • a live guide in English, Italian or French.
