The experience

You're picked up from Klang Cruise Port in an air-conditioned vehicle at the time you choose, then driven 45 minutes to Batu Caves: a limestone hill honeycombed with cave temples discovered in 1892 and now one of the most visited Hindu shrines outside India. From there the route moves through the city's colonial and modern landmarks: the Anglo-Asian Railway Station designed by English architect Arthur Benison Hubback, the National Mosque with its 73-metre minaret and 16-pointed star roof set among 13 acres of gardens, Independence Square (a significant British-era landmark), and the National Monument, the world's tallest bronze freestanding sculpture grouping.

China Town comes next, where dozens of restaurants and food stalls serve local favourites (Hokkien mee, barbecued fish, asam laksa, curry noodles) run by Chinese, Indian, Malay and Bangladeshi traders. You'll also pass the King's Palace, the official residence of Malaysia's monarch, which opened in 2011 in northwestern Kuala Lumpur. The tour ends at Petronas Twin Towers, where you ride to the observation deck of the world's tallest twin towers before returning to Port Klang.

Your driver speaks English throughout and handles all navigation and timing. Local lunch is included, as are all taxes and fees. The vehicle is wheelchair accessible, and the tour suits all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health.
