The experience

Ishigaki Island's waters are yours alone on a chartered small boat built for fishing. You arrive empty-handed: all gear, life jackets and tackle are already aboard. The guide, fluent in English and several other languages, works with beginners and experienced anglers alike, so the day moves at whatever pace suits you. Some people fish hard. Others drift and watch the water. Both happen on the same boat.

The half-day course runs three hours. If you land something, you can hand it to the crew and have it taken to one of their partner restaurants, where a chef will prepare it. You eat your own fish the same day, not a photo, not a story, but lunch or dinner made from what you caught. The boat meets you at the shop. You arrive 30 minutes before your reserved time. Meeting times shift with the tide and weather, so the operator confirms the exact hour in advance.

Changing rooms, showers and a locker are at the venue. Bring a swimsuit and a towel. Sunscreen and drinking water are your responsibility. Infants sit on an adult's lap. Alcohol is not permitted on the boat. If your schedule changes or you run late, contact the operator: no-shows and unannounced cancellations carry a fee.
