The experience

How do you spend a half-day in Ocho Rios without renting a car or booking separate shuttles? The minivan picks you up from your hotel, drives through the center of town and the nearby village of Exchange, and takes you straight to Blue Hole. No waiting, no figuring out which road to take. The driver knows the route and the guide is already there when you arrive.

At Blue Hole, you get to choose what you do. Jump from the rocks into the mineral pools, swing out on the Tarzan ropes over the water, or just swim in the lagoons. The guide walks you through the history of the site and explains the ecology while you're there: the cave, the waterfalls, the way the whole thing works. Most people spend an hour or more in the water before moving on.

Then you board a bamboo raft for the ride down the White River. You're seated on the raft for 45 minutes to an hour while it floats through the forest. No paddling required. You sit and listen to the sounds of the river and the trees around you. The whole outing runs about three and a half hours from pickup to drop-off.
