The experience
The farm sits on ten acres and holds one of Jamaica's largest collections of medicinal and healing herbs, labeled so you understand what each one does. As you walk with one of the two resident farmers, you'll pass chickens, rabbits and goats, move through a coffee walk where the guide explains how the beans are grown, and see over thirty species of Jamaican herbs and spices alongside ornamental trees and flowers. When fruit is in season, you taste it straight from the trees. You can also bite into fresh sugarcane. The whole tour takes two to three hours and ends with a rest in the garden, where you can look out over the north coast and the hills.
Lunch is an authentic Jamaican meal: ackee and codfish, jerk chicken, and your choice of Red Stripe beer or rum punch. After you eat, live music and drumming fill the afternoon: reggae plays and dancers perform, so you get the culture alongside the food. The farm is wheelchair accessible, and vegetarian options are available if you let them know when you book.
Hotel pickup and drop-off are included. Cruise ship passengers departing from Falmouth or Montego Bay cannot book this tour due to time constraints, but if you're staying in a hotel or arriving at another port, you can arrange a departure from Falmouth or Ocho Rios depending on which option you choose.
