The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your hotel, villa, Airbnb or cruise ship pier, then heads to Blue Hole in the tropical mountains near Ocho Rios. The site is a series of natural limestone sinkholes with a deep cavern. The water takes its azure color from the depth. You swim, cliff dive if you want to, and walk through the rain forest to reach a secret waterfall tucked into the landscape. The whole stop gives you time to move at your own pace through the water and the forest.

From there the bus takes you to Dunn's River Falls, where the real climbing begins. The falls drop in tiers, and you ascend them with your guide and the group, moving through the flowing water from pool to pool. Each tier has its own depth and temperature. You can pause, swim, or photograph the view without pressure to keep moving. The pools between the tiers are deep enough for a real swim, and the cascading water cools you as you climb. Wear water shoes for grip on the rocks, and bring a change of clothes and a towel.
