The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your Grand Palladium hotel and a scenic drive along Jamaica's north coast toward Ocho Rios. Along the way, your guide points out Rose Hall Great House and Greenwood Great House from the vehicle, slowing down so you can photograph these 18th-century plantation homes. You'll pass through Runaway Bay and Discovery Bay, where brief stops let you capture the coastline and the historic landing site where Columbus arrived in 1494.

At Blue Hole, you enter an unspoiled natural mineral pool surrounded by rainforest. The water is bright blue and deep enough to jump into from the edge, swing on Tarzan ropes, or swim under the caves. After exploring the pool, a 5-minute hike through the woods takes you to Secret Falls, where cascading water flows down and you can stand beneath it for photos. Resident photographers are on-site if you want professional shots, though you're welcome to bring your own waterproof camera.

Dunn's River Falls is the final stop. You climb the falls in a human chain led by experienced guides, starting from the beach and ascending approximately 600 feet to the top. Pools dot the way where you stop to swim and take photos. There's a spot called the "massage parlour" where water cascades down your shoulders. If climbing isn't for you, a terrace and deck offer views of others making the ascent. The total time at Dunn's River is roughly 1 hour 30 minutes, and exit points are available if you need to leave the chain early. Your guide walks you back down to meet the group at the finish.
