The experience

Ocho Rios sits on Jamaica's north coast, and the day starts with pickup at your hotel in Falmouth. The route heads inland to Nine Mile in the hills of St Ann, the birthplace of Bob Marley on February 6, 1945. A tour of the settlement walks you through the place where he wrote several of his hit songs during visits home, and where he is buried. The guide provides context on his life and legacy as you move through the town.

From Nine Mile, the tour returns to the coast and Dunn's River Falls, where the real climbing begins. Your guide walks you down to the beach at the base, then you climb the cascade itself: a total of approximately 600 feet (183 meters) from beach to top. The falls are rare because they flow directly onto sand instead of into a pool. Pools form naturally along the way, and you stop at them for photos and a break.
