The experience
A courtesy car picks you up and brings you to the pizza school on the hills of Sorrento, positioned to overlook Mount Vesuvius. You'll start with a welcome drink while the chef (Francesca, Viola, or another member of the staff) walks through the ancient origins of pizza and explains the differences between regional styles: Neapolitan pizza versus slice pizza, and how each one is made. This isn't a lecture you watch. It's the foundation for what comes next.
Then you move to the practical part. You prepare your first pizza with the chef guiding you through the technique, learning the secrets of real Neapolitan pizza as you work. The school is built around more than just the cooking: you'll taste extra virgin olive oil, mozzarella cheese, and local salami as part of a typical antipasto selection. After the lesson, you eat the pizza you made, paired with a glass of local Campanian wine, still facing Mount Vesuvius. The day closes with a limoncello and local liqueur tasting.
The class runs about two hours total and includes all the pizza equipment you need. If you have coeliac disease or follow a dairy-free diet, the school can arrange the entire experience gluten-free or dairy-free on request. The guide speaks English, Spanish, or Italian depending on the group.
