Breathe underwater at sunken Roman ruins in five hours

Try Scuba is a beginner scuba experience in Baia's Marine Archaeological Park, led by an expert instructor with a maximum of two participants per guide. You complete a short theory session and shallow-water drills, then descend to two separate dive sites among submerged Roman ruins, staying at a maximum depth of 5 meters. The full dive takes five hours and includes all scuba equipment, insurance and bottled water.

The experience

Five hours gets you from Naples to Baia's underwater archaeological sites and back. The experience starts with a theoretical presentation on the ground, then moves into the water for acclimatization exercises in shallow areas before the actual dives begin. You'll use complete scuba equipment throughout, and an expert instructor stays with you and one other participant maximum, keeping the group small and the attention close.

The Marine Archaeological Park of Baia holds five dive sites total. In one session you visit two of them, one after the other. Ancient Roman ruins emerge from the seafloor: structures and artifacts that sit at depths you can safely reach as a beginner. The maximum depth is 5 meters, which means you stay in control and the instructor can watch you closely. All scuba gear, insurance and bottled water come with the booking.

Pickup is included from Naples, though the driver charges €75 per trip one-way or €150 for round-trip, paid directly to them on the day. Your guide speaks English or Italian. You need to be at least 8 years old, in good physical health and able to swim at a moderate level. The activity suits all fitness levels within those bounds.

What are the underwater Roman ruins like in Baia?

The Marine Archaeological Park of Baia preserves submerged structures and artifacts from ancient Rome on the seafloor. On two dives you visit two separate sites within the park, where the ruins sit at depths of up to 5 meters, shallow enough for beginners to explore safely with an instructor.

How many people dive together on this scuba experience?

A maximum of two participants per instructor, so you get close attention throughout the dives and the shallow-water drills that come before them.
