The Experience
You start from Piazzale Roma in Venice or Conegliano around 9am and travel by air-conditioned vehicle into the Prosecco hills. The route itself is part of the day: stops along the way let you pause and take in the landscape of rolling vineyards that UNESCO recognized as a heritage site. The hills shape what you taste and where you eat, so the scenery is not separate from the food.
At a small local producer, you'll visit a museum and working dairy, then taste world-award-winning cheeses matched with local wines. The guide explains how the cheeses are made. Lunch follows at one of the region's iconic osterias, where you get cicchetti (small bites), a fresh seasonal first course, a main course, water, and a glass of local wine. After lunch, you move to a micro-distillery for a tasting of gins and spirits. The distiller walks you through how they're produced. The day ends with a final pause to look out over the hills before the drive back to Venice, arriving around 5pm depending on traffic and any requests made during the tour.
This is a private tour, so the pace and stops are yours alone. The guide speaks English or Italian. You'll need to be at least 18 years old. The vehicle is air-conditioned, and bottled water and soft drinks are provided throughout the day.
