The experience

The day starts with pickup from your Palermo hotel and a drive to the Baglio di Pianetto estate, set in the northwest corner of Sicily in the province of Palermo. Once there, you move through the vineyards and into the winery itself, where the guide walks you through each step of production: how the grapes are handled, fermented, aged and bottled. The estate operates on a fully sustainable model, and every wine you'll taste is 100% organic, grown across two distinct terroirs that shape their character.

The tasting compares wines from Palermo's Piana degli Albanesi with those from the slopes of Etna, a contrast that reveals how soil and elevation change what ends up in the glass. You'll pour four wines: Viafrancia Bianco and Viafrancia Rosso from the Palermo holdings, then Stop 125 Etna Bianco (Carricante) and Stop 125 Etna Rosso (Nerello Mascalese) from higher ground. All four are DOC certified and represent the founding vision of Count Paolo Marzotto, who established the company in 1997. The tasting itself runs 2 hours, leaving time to sit with each wine and ask the guide about what you're tasting.

Transport back to your hotel is included, so the whole experience (pickup, winery, tasting and return) takes 4 hours. You don't arrange a car or navigate to the estate. The guide handles the route and timing, and you arrive ready to taste.
