The experience
The morning or afternoon starts at the vibrant local market in Otranto, where your Cesarina walks you through the seasonal produce and the ingredients she's chosen for the day's meal. You learn what makes each item worth buying and how the best Italian cooks shop, not from a list, but by what looks good that day. This is not a cooking class. You're a guest watching someone who knows the place and the food move through her routine.
Then you head to her home for a 3-course lunch or dinner. A starter comes first, followed by a pasta dish built on what you saw at the market, and tiramisu for dessert. Wine, water and coffee flow throughout. You eat with your host and a small group of other travelers, all of them there for the same reason: to sit at an Italian table and eat the way Italians do. The meal is cooked. Your job is to taste it, ask questions and listen to the stories behind the recipes: many of them pulled straight from your Cesarina's family cookbooks.
You'll leave with an official Cesarine shopping bag and the kind of meal memory that doesn't fade. The whole thing takes about four hours. Public transportation runs near the meeting point, and the experience suits any fitness level.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English and Italian.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 8 years); Infant (under 4): free.
What exactly happens at the market in Otranto?
You walk through the local market with your Cesarina host, who shows you the seasonal produce and explains which ingredients she's chosen for that day's meal and why. It's a working tour, not a sightseeing one. She's shopping and teaching at the same time.
Do I cook anything, or is the meal already made when I arrive?
The meal is cooked by your host before you sit down. You're there to eat it, not to prepare it. This is a dining experience in her home, not a cooking class.
Can I choose between lunch and dinner?
Yes. You pick either the market tour with lunch or the market tour with dinner when you book. Both follow the same format and include the same 3-course meal.
Who else will be eating at the table?
You'll share the meal with other travelers in the small group, all of them booked for the same experience. Your Cesarina host eats with you too, and that's part of the point. You're dining as a guest in her home, not as a customer in a restaurant.
What's included in the 3-course meal?
A starter, a pasta dish made with ingredients from the market, and tiramisu for dessert. Wine, water and coffee come with it. The recipes come from your host's own family cookbooks and reflect the regional cooking of Otranto.
