The experience
The boat leaves Sorrento and sails along the coast, passing the Baths of Queen Giovanna (a natural swimming pool ringed by Roman ruins and dramatic cliffs) before crossing to Capri. Once there, the skipper takes you around the island to the Faraglioni, three imposing rocks that rise from the sea and mark Capri's most recognizable landmark. You'll pass the Green Grotto and White Grotto, named for the colors of the rock and water inside them, then stop at the Blue Grotto itself. The route also passes Punta Carena Lighthouse, the second most powerful in Italy.
Lunch happens at a typical island restaurant where you taste local flavors. After eating, the skipper takes you to Marina Piccola, where snorkeling equipment is ready and the water is clear enough to see the seabed. You swim and dive in front of the Faraglioni, then have time to relax aboard the boat while the skipper points out the Capri coastline. Prosecco, beer, soft drinks and snacks are served throughout the day, along with bottled water and beach towels.
The tour runs with a live guide who speaks English or Italian. Two purchase options exist: the standard Capri tour, or the Capri and Blue Grotto private tour. If you want to enter the Blue Grotto itself, that ticket costs 18 euros per person and is optional at checkout. The boat docking fee in Capri is 100 euros if you choose to dock on the island. Infants can ride in a pram or stroller and must sit on an adult's lap. Service animals are allowed.

Is this one for you?A private boat means your group sets the pace and the skipper responds to where you want to linger: longer at Marina Piccola if the snorkeling is good, or more time at the grottoes if the light is right. If you want to enter the Blue Grotto itself rather than view it from the water, add the 18-euro ticket per person at checkout.
