The Experience

The drive south from Naples climbs into the Amalfi Coast, where the road winds through steep terrain and the air fills with the scent of citrus and grapes. Positano appears first — the most picturesque town on the coast, built like a waterfall down to the sea — and you get an hour to walk its narrow pathways, browse artisan ceramics and lemon products, or simply sit with the view. The minivan then continues to Sorrento, perched on the peninsula with Mount Vesuvius and the island of Capri visible across the water, and again you have an hour to wander the town at your own pace.

Pompeii is the final stop and the heart of the tour. A guide meets you at the archaeological park for a two-hour walk through the open-air ruins — the city buried in ash until 1748, now preserved much as it existed over two thousand years ago. The guide leads you through streets, homes and public spaces, explaining what you're standing in. After Pompeii, the minivan returns you to Naples port in time for your ship.

Groups of 9 to 21 people travel together with one guide for the entire day. Smaller groups of 6 to 8 people share an eight-seat van with a driver and are met by a separate guide once you reach Pompeii. Either way, the van is air-conditioned and pickup happens outside the cruise terminal building at Naples. The tour is built around cruise ship schedules, so your return is guaranteed on time.
