The experience
You start from Mount Olives with a view of the entire Old City spread below, then descend to the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations. The route then takes you through the Dung Gate into the Old City proper, where you'll stand at the Western Wall before moving through the Jewish Quarter to the Church of St. Anne and the Pool of Bethesda. Your guide leads you through the Via Dolorosa (the fourteen stations marking Jesus's path to crucifixion) ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the heart of the Old City.
The second half of the day moves to Mount Zion, where you visit King David's Tomb and the Room of the Last Supper. If time remains, the itinerary can include the Church of Peter Gallicantu, built over the site where Jesus was held prisoner, and the Garden Tomb. Throughout the day you walk the Byzantine Cardo and wander the market alleys of the Old City, exiting through the Zion Gate. The whole route is a proposal: your guide adjusts stops and pacing based on what interests you most and how long you want to linger at each site.
An air-conditioned vehicle picks you up and drops you off at your hotel, and your guide speaks English, Spanish, French or German depending on which tour you book. Modest dress is required at the holy sites (covered knees and shoulders), and comfortable walking shoes matter. You'll cover significant ground on foot through narrow streets and between multiple churches and courtyards.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French and German.
What is the Western Wall and why do people visit it?
The Western Wall is the only surviving part of the Second Temple's outer retaining wall, and it's the holiest site in Judaism. Visitors come to pray, leave written notes in the wall's crevices, and stand in the plaza where Jewish pilgrims have gathered for centuries.
How much walking is involved in the Old City section?
The Old City requires substantial walking through narrow, uneven streets and between multiple sites: the Western Wall, Church of St. Anne, Pool of Bethesda, the full Via Dolorosa, and Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Comfortable shoes are essential, and the cobblestone streets and stairs mean the terrain is not flat.
Can I choose which sites to visit, or is the itinerary fixed?
The itinerary is a proposal that your guide customizes according to your wishes. You can spend more time at sites that matter to you, skip others, or adjust the route based on your interests and energy level throughout the day.
What is the Via Dolorosa?
The Via Dolorosa is the route Jesus walked to his crucifixion, marked by fourteen stations (stops) throughout the Old City. You walk through the streets following these stations, ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and your guide explains the significance of each station along the way.
Is there time to explore the Old City markets?
Yes, the itinerary includes time to wander the market alleys and the main Byzantine Cardo in the Jewish Quarter, so you can browse the shops and soak in the atmosphere of the Old City's commercial streets.
