Bali Day Trip: Sacred Temples, Volcano Views & Coffee Tasting

You’ll explore sacred temples, meet playful monkeys in Ubud’s forest, take in volcano views over lunch, walk through emerald rice terraces, and try Bali’s famous coffee—all in one private day tour.

experience

What’s the experience like?

The air felt cooler as we climbed up toward Kintamani—windows down, you catch that faint scent of wood smoke and wet earth. Our guide Wayan pointed out the black lava fields below Mount Batur. It’s hard not to stare at the volcano’s outline against the sky. We grabbed plates from the buffet (the fried tempeh was my favorite) and just sat for a while, watching clouds drift over Lake Batur. If you’re into photos, this is where you’ll want your camera ready.

Later on, we wandered barefoot across the stones at Tirta Empul Temple. The water was cold—colder than I expected—and there were families lining up for the purification ritual. Our guide explained how locals come here for blessings, especially before big life events. The sound of the spring bubbling up is oddly calming. You can smell incense everywhere.

Back in Ubud, monkeys darted between banyan roots at the Monkey Forest Sanctuary. They’re cheeky—one tried to grab my sunglasses! The place feels wild but also peaceful, with mossy statues and old trees overhead. Afterward, we browsed Ubud Market stalls for woven baskets and batik scarves (don’t forget to haggle a bit). The last stop was Tegalalang rice terraces—those green steps look unreal in late afternoon light. Before heading back, we tasted kopi luwak at Satria Agrowisata plantation; it’s got this earthy flavor you won’t find anywhere else.
