The experience
The day starts with pickup at 8 a.m. and heads to Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, which floats on the lake that supplies irrigation to central Bali. The temple honors Dewi Danu, the goddess of water, and sits at the center of the Subak system: a centuries-old network of channels and terraces that UNESCO recognizes as part of the world's cultural heritage. From there the route climbs to Jatiluwih, the widest rice terraces in Bali, where you walk among the stepped green fields that define the landscape.
The tour then drives inland through green hills to reach Batukaru Temple, built in the 11th century on the foothills of Mount Batukaru, Bali's second-highest volcano. The temple sits far from the main tourist routes, and the operator notes the peaceful sound of nature as a defining feature of the stop. After Batukaru, the route turns toward the coast and Tanah Lot Temple, an 11th-century structure that rises from the ocean and is accessible only at low tide. The temple is timed for sunset, when the light hits the water and the stone.
Your driver speaks English and handles all navigation and timing across the eight hours. The minivan is air-conditioned, and bottled water is provided throughout the day. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, so you do not arrange separate transport. Children from age four are welcome on the tour.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 11 years). Children under 4 can't be included in the booking.
What is Ulun Danu Beratan Temple and why does the tour start there?
Ulun Danu Beratan Temple floats on Lake Beratan and is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of water, lakes and rivers. The lake supplies irrigation to central Bali, making the temple a major water temple in the region and a natural first stop on the route.
Are the Jatiluwih rice terraces part of a UNESCO site?
Yes. Jatiluwih holds UNESCO recognition as part of the world's cultural heritage because of the Subak irrigation system: an ancient network of channels and terraces that has sustained Balinese agriculture and culture for centuries. The terraces are the widest in Bali.
Can you actually enter Tanah Lot Temple, or do you only see it from outside?
Tanah Lot Temple sits on the ocean and is accessible only at low tide, when you can walk out to it. The tour times the visit for sunset, so you see the temple and the light on the water together.
How long is the full day, and does it leave time for other activities?
The tour runs eight hours from the 8 a.m. pickup, which means you are back at your hotel by mid-afternoon. That leaves the rest of the day free for other plans or rest.
Is lunch included in the tour price?
