The Experience

The boat leaves from Jungut Batu Port or your hotel on Lembongan Island, depending on which pickup option you choose. If you're staying on Nusa Ceningan, you'll meet the boat at Yellow Bridge at 09:30. The guide briefs you on the three snorkeling sites before you enter the water, and you'll have a snorkeling guide in the boat throughout the trip — important if you're a beginner or non-swimmer, since the operator specializes in handling people without swimming experience, as well as children and elderly travelers.

Manta Bay is where the manta rays congregate, usually smaller than the ones at Manta Point but in greater numbers. You'll often see their fins breaking the surface between the waves, and nurse sharks and bamboo sharks rest on the coral floor below. The chance of spotting manta rays runs 50–70% depending on the season and weather; if conditions are rough, the guide pivots to Gamat Bay or Toya Pakeh Wall instead. At Toya Pakeh, the coral rocks form gardens in shallow water that drop into deeper channels lined with soft and hard coral — mola mola, turtles, stone fish, clown fish, sea snakes and nudibranchs live here. Mangrove Point Lembongan holds giant puffers, moray eels, nurse sharks and turtles among hard and soft coral and sand corridors; whale sharks and manta rays have been spotted there too.

You get a life vest, life rings, snorkeling mask, snorkel and fins. The operator provides a towel, shower access and a locker after the trip, plus a welcome drink when you arrive. Snorkeling photos and videos are included, as is insurance coverage. Bring sunscreen, a camera, comfortable clothes and a change of clothes; bring cash or a card for anything you buy on your own. The whole trip takes around 3 hours from pickup to drop-off.
