Snorkeling at Manta Bay, Nusa Lembongan: Manta Rays & Coral Reefs
Manta rays congregate at Manta Bay because of the plankton and nutrients, and because they use it as a cleaning station.
Snorkeling at three sites in Nusa Lembongan's waters (Manta Bay, Toya Pakeh Wall and Mangrove Point) with a local guide, full equipment and hotel pickup included. You swim in shallow coral plateaus and open water where manta rays gather, though sightings depend on seasonal conditions. The activity runs three hours and covers three distinct reef zones, each with different coral formations and fish species. Choose the option with hotel transfer if you need pickup. Book without transfer if you're arranging your own ride to the meeting point.

The experience
Three hours of snorkeling across three separate sites means you're not anchored to one reef. Manta Bay is the draw: manta rays congregate there because plankton and nutrients concentrate in the water, and the rays use the site as a cleaning station. If they're not spotted on the day you go, the boat captain heads to Manta Point instead for a better chance. The water is clear enough that you'll see the coral and the fish even if the rays don't show.
Toya Pakeh Wall sits in Nusa Penida and ranks among Bali's top 20 dive locations. For snorkeling, you work the shallow coral plateau at 4 to 6 meters depth. Deeper terraces drop away below that, but you stay in the shallows. The coral is abundant and the water stays crystal clear because the bay gets some protection from the strait's current even though it's relatively exposed. Mangrove Point is the third stop: a shallow reef on the island's southeast side where coral fishes and formations cluster in a quieter setting. The mangrove forest itself covers 230 hectares and the guide walks you through what you're seeing in the water and on the shore.
You get snorkeling masks, snorkel, fins, a life vest and life rings. The guide handles safety and instruction, so non-swimmers can join. Hotel pickup runs from 9:30 to 9:45 a.m. on Lembongan Island, or you meet at the Yellow Bridge on Nusa Ceningan at 9:30 a.m. if you're staying there. A welcome drink, towel, shower and locker come with it, and you get photos and videos from the day. Insurance is included. The boat drops you back at your hotel when it's done.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (1 to 11 years).
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
Can I snorkel if I can't swim?
Non-swimmers can snorkel with this activity because the guide acts as an instructor and the operator provides a life vest and life rings for safety. The shallow coral plateaus at most stops keep you in manageable depth.
Are manta rays guaranteed at Manta Bay?
Manta ray sightings are not guaranteed because they are wild animals and their presence varies with environmental conditions and the season. If they're not at Manta Bay on your day, the boat captain takes you to Manta Point for a better chance to encounter them.
What's the difference between the two booking options?
One option includes hotel pickup and drop-off on Lembongan Island or a meeting point at the Yellow Bridge on Nusa Ceningan. The other option has no transfer, so you arrange your own ride to the meeting point by scooter, taxi, driver or on foot.
What should I bring?
Bring comfortable clothing, a change of clothes, comfortable footwear, sunscreen, a camera and cash or a credit card for any personal expenses. The operator provides all snorkeling gear and a towel.
What is Toya Pakeh Wall like for snorkeling?
Toya Pakeh Wall is a shallow coral plateau at 4 to 6 meters depth with abundant coral and clear water. Deeper terraces drop away below, but snorkelers stay in the shallows where the reef formations and fish are visible and the bay offers some protection from the strait's current.
