The experience
The boat leaves from Labuan Bajo and heads into the Komodo archipelago. Padar Island comes first. A short trek takes you to a 360-degree viewpoint over four bays with white, grey and pink sand beaches below. Pink Beach follows, where you can snorkel the shallow reefs or spend time on the sand. The captain and weather determine which of the remaining four stops you'll reach: the Komodo National Park habitat where you walk with a guide to spot Komodo dragons and other wildlife; Taka Makassar, a crescent-shaped atoll with deep underwater scenery; Siaba Besar, known for coral seamounts and reef snorkeling; and a manta ray zone where sightings depend on the season and conditions.
This is a shared trip with up to 30 passengers per boat. The vessel (Ocean Queen or another boat assigned on the day) carries restrooms, air conditioning and a shaded deck. You get snorkeling equipment (full-size only, child-sized gear is not available), bottled water, soft drinks, coffee or tea, snacks and seasonal fruit throughout the day. Lunch arrives as a box with your choice of seafood, chicken or vegetarian. An English-speaking guide stays with the group and explains each stop.
The itinerary is flexible by design. Weather, sea conditions and the captain's judgment determine which destinations you visit and how long you spend at each one. If manta rays don't appear or a site becomes unsafe, the captain will substitute another stop. Book your flight for the morning after the tour, not the same day, to avoid conflicts if the day runs long or the boat returns late.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (6 to 16 years); Child (3 to 4 years); Infant (under 3).
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is Padar Island like when we get there?
Padar Island sits in the Komodo archipelago with a dry, savanna-like landscape of bushes and grassland covering low hills. A short trek leads to a viewpoint with a 360-degree view over four deep bays. Most beaches have white sand, while some show grey and pink sand.
Will we definitely see Komodo dragons on this tour?
The tour includes a stop in Komodo National Park where you walk with a guide to look for Komodo dragons and other wildlife. Sightings are not guaranteed, as the dragons roam freely, but the guide knows where they are most likely to be found.
Can we snorkel at multiple spots during the day?
Yes. Pink Beach has snorkeling around its reefs, Taka Makassar is built for snorkeling with coral seamounts and deep underwater scenery, and Siaba Besar features coral reefs and seamounts. The exact snorkeling stops depend on weather and the captain's decision, but multiple reef sites are part of the planned route.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
The captain adjusts the itinerary for safety. You may visit fewer than six destinations or swap planned stops for others that are safer on the day. The tour still runs unless conditions make it unsafe to leave the harbor.
How much time do we spend on the boat versus on land or in the water?
The full day runs 9 to 11 hours total. Time is split between boat travel between islands, trekking on Padar Island, snorkeling at reef sites, time on Pink Beach, and the Komodo National Park walk. Exact timing varies based on which stops the captain includes and sea conditions.
