The experience
Ten hours starts before dawn. You're picked up from your hotel and driven to Lovina Beach, where a traditional outrigger boat waits to take you into open ocean at sunrise. Dolphins swim and play in these waters, and the boat gets close enough that you can use a rope attached to the boat to swim alongside them, not a guarantee, but the setup is built for it. The water is warm and the light is still soft when you're in it.
After the boat returns and you've had breakfast, the drive inland takes you to Aling-Aling Waterfall near Sambangan village. The main cascade is 35 meters tall and splits into a twin stream as it falls over a lush cliff into a clear, deep pool. You can swim there, and if you want more, the waterfall complex includes smaller drops (Kroya, Kembar, and Pucuk), where you can slide and jump. The jungle around it is thick and green, and the whole site is built for both swimming and the kind of movement that gets your adrenaline up. Your guide navigates the terrain and knows which pools are safe for what.
A local guide leads the whole day and speaks English. You get bottled water throughout, and the tour is private. Just you and whoever books with you, plus the driver and guide. The return to your hotel happens in the afternoon, leaving the evening free.
Is this one for you?Book this tour if you want to combine two very different North Bali experiences (ocean wildlife and jungle waterfalls) in a single day without arranging separate transport or guides. The early start is what puts the dolphins at sunrise and still leaves the afternoon for the waterfall's pools and jumps.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (under 1): free.
Can you actually swim with the dolphins, or is it just watching from the boat?
The boat carries a rope attached to its side so you can enter the water and swim closer to the dolphins when they're near. It's not guaranteed they'll stay, but the setup is designed to make contact possible if conditions allow.
What's the water temperature like at Lovina Beach in the early morning?
Lovina Beach sits on Bali's north coast, and the water is warm year-round: comfortable enough for swimming without a wetsuit, even at sunrise when the air is cooler.
Is cliff jumping at Aling-Aling Waterfall mandatory, or can you just swim?
Cliff jumping is optional. The main waterfall has a deep pool for swimming, and the smaller nearby cascades offer different jump heights. You choose what you're comfortable with, and your guide can point out the safest spots.
How much walking and climbing is involved to reach the waterfalls?
Aling-Aling Waterfall requires walking through tropical jungle to reach the main cascade and the smaller pools nearby. The terrain is uneven, but the site is suitable for all physical fitness levels according to the operator.
What time does the tour actually start and end?
Hotel pickup happens early in the morning so you reach Lovina Beach before sunrise for the dolphin boat. The full day runs 10 hours, with return to your hotel in the afternoon.
